On 10th December, 1914, the 1st Royal West Kent battalion of 13 Brigade, 5th Division, left their billets in St Jans Cappel and moved into trenches at Wulverghem where they remained until relieved on 13th December. Alfred Shaw was killed on 11th December when, according to the battalion diary, there was one death resulting from sniper fire. |
